Taproom Manager

20-25 Hours / Week

Need to be available Tuesday, Wednesday, every other Friday, and occasional weekends. 1-2 nights per week.

At Back Shed Brewing we believe that the taproom is the heart and soul of our business. We will strive to provide the best overall craft beer drinking experience and a unique & inviting environment for all of our guests. The taproom manager will be responsible for all aspects of the taproom operations.

Job Description:

To make our guests feel as welcome & comfortable at our Back Shed as they would in their own Back Shed. The taproom Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the taproom is staffed appropriately, that beer tenders have all of the necessary information and training to efficiently perform their duties/tasks, that the environment is clean and inviting and that any concerns are addressed quickly.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining daily schedules for all taproom employees

  • Train and manage all taproom employees in all duties to ensure a great customer service for all

  • Configure, maintain and operate the POS to maximize efficiency. 

  • Train all beer tenders on POS equipment

  • Opening and closing the taproom (counting down cash drawers & cleaning)

  • Beer Sampling-To ensure that all beers are being served at the proper temperature and that beers are being served as intended by the brewer

  • Continuously striving to make sure that all taproom guest needs are met quickly & efficiently

  • Maintaining the taproom (cleanliness, temperature, music, conduct)

  • Assist with maintaining taproom inventory (Glassware, Growlers, Crowlers & Merch)

  • Willingness to be a beer tender and help educate guests/beer tenders on different styles of beer

  • Continually look for ways to improve the taproom experience & operations

  • Be a team leader for all other beer tenders

  • Be a spokesperson/ambassador of the Back Shed Brewing brand

Qualifications:

  • Ability and availability to work 20-25 hours per week, including nights weekends and holidays

  • Previous bar/Restaurant management experience - preferred

  • Prior taproom and or bartending experience - preferred

  • Knowledge of craft beer, basic production of craft beer and the craft beer industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi task while maintaining high standards and attention to detail

  • Ability to foresee, address & resolve any issues related to the taproom

  • Leadership skills

  • Must maintain a positive attitude and work environment

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to move full kegs (with equipment)  - approximately 160 lbs

  • Offer excellent customer service and have the ability to train others on how to do the same

Working Conditions:

The taproom manager will be working in a wide range of different environments/circumstances. Like many other breweries we expect it to be fast paced (fun), challenging (sights, sounds and smells of a fully functioning brewery) & rewarding (mmm…beer)

Physical requirements:

The taproom manager will be expected to be on their feet for long periods of time. They’ll also be required to move kegs (full & empty) on a regular basis and will also need to handle/carry other taproom supplies.


Event Coordinator

15-20 Hours Per Week

Must be available weekends and evenings to help with some events.

Job Description:

Back Shed Brewing is looking for an Event Coordinator to organize excellent, community building, creative and joy-filled events. You will be responsible for every aspect of an event, from choosing events that fit the feel of Back Shed to evaluating success afterwards. You will also be responsible for seeking out food trucks, musicians, entertainment and having great communication with them as you book them and coordinate details from booking to the day they arrive. There also will be the role of coordinating private events such as anniversaries, retirements, groom's dinners, weddings, etc and connecting with individuals that are hosting those events.

An ideal event coordinator is organized, skilled in vendor management, and has sharp communication and attention to detail. Passion for craft beer, teamwork, and enthusiasm are essential. Tech-savviness is crucial for posting events online and keeping our team and customers informed.

The goal is to organize community building, fun, joy-bringing events that will ensure the entertainment of our amazing customers and facilitate the completion of business objectives.. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and organize all Back Shed Brewing events (music, food trucks, entertainment, and events)

  • Schedule and organize all private events

  • Maintain all calendars to communicate events with customers and co-workers

  • Coordinate communication with our social media person on events to promote

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with coworkers and customers

  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience and whenever necessary resolve concerns using good judgment 

  • Adhere to all company policies and safety protocols

Qualifications: 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Passionate about craft beer and willing to learn more

  • Able to work nights and weekends – must be flexible!

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact and connect with customers

  • Previous experience as an event coordinator is desired, but not required

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask

  • Ability to remain on your feet for long periods


Co - Taproom Manager & Events Coordinator

40 Hours / Week

Must be available Tuesday, Wednesday, every other Friday, and occasional weekends. 1-2 nights per week.
